This Blog Post is ALL about The Ultimate Way to Plan a Productive Day Using the Proverbs 31 Model.
Do you ever feel like your days are slipping away without a sense of purpose? If so, Proverbs 31 offers timeless wisdom on how to create a more meaningful and productive day.
Planning your day like the Proverbs 31 Woman is Life Changing!!
It is the BEST way to get things done around your home and to dedicate the majority of your time to what matters most—God and your family.
Not only is it time that you’re dedicating, but you’re also making the best use of your time by ensuring your family eats the best food, is always clothed for the season ahead, and is shown kindness and responds with words of wisdom.
This blog post is all about planning a productive day using the Proverbs 31 Model.
Productive Day Using Proverbs 31
Before we get too far into it, though, here is an outline of what Proverbs 31 says starting on verse 10…
- Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life.
- She finds wool and flax and busily spins it.
- She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar.
- She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.
- She inspects a field and buys it; with her earnings, she plants a vineyard.
- She is energetic and strong, and she is a hard worker.
- She ensures her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night.
- Her hands are busy spinning thread, and her fingers are twisting fiber.
- She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy.
- She has no fear of winter for her household; everyone has warm clothes.
- She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns.
- Her husband is well known at the city gates…
- She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants.
- She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future.
- Her words are wise when she speaks, and she gives instructions with kindness.
- She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her.
- A woman who fears the LORD (Jehovah) will be greatly praised.
Marriage
She rewards him with good, all the days of her life.
What can you do today to make your husband’s life easier or more enjoyable? Is there a hearty meal or a simple dessert that brings him joy? Does his laundry need to be done?
Dedicate some one-on-one time with your husband. Let him talk, don’t interrupt. Make sure you greet him when he’s home.
Provides Good Food
Proverbs 31 says, “A woman brings her food from afar.” While we have the luxury of going only a few miles to get food nowadays, we still need to put in the effort to scout out food without preservatives, added sugar, chemicals, and, honestly, just real, whole foods. It seems impossible if you ask me. Sigh.
It is much easier to get premade food, like waffles, dino nuggets, and dinners, but your family’s health will pay for it. It doesn’t hurt occasionally, but if you find yourself going for the premade food, it’s time to pivot.
Meal planning, buying Whole Foods, making extra food, and freezing some for busy days are great ways to ensure your family eats healthy meals.

Rises Early, Works & Plans the Day
You don’t need to join the 4 a.m. club, but waking up before your household is LIFE-CHANGING.
Now, if you have the babies who wake up at 5 a.m., my heart goes out to you, haha. I don’t think you can wake up any earlier than that unless you really want to and your body allows.
ANYWHOO…
The Proverbs 31 Woman isn’t just lounging around until 10 or 11 o’clock. She’s not winging the day and seeing what sticks and what doesn’t.
She plans, which, in my opinion, makes a world of difference when you plan your day compared to when you don’t.
A planned day keeps your focus on the things that actually need to be done instead of running from one thing to the next and not completing anything at all.
I’ve been there. Not fun, lol!
Rising up earlier than your household also gives you the opportunity to spend quiet time with God.
If you struggle with planning and time management, here is a blog post on the best time management strategies for Busy Moms.
Giving to Those in Need
If it’s allowed, you can give to those in need by dropping off a meal at your local shelter.
Donating items you no longer use.
It can look like helping out a mom friend who just had a baby.
Someone always needs help, and honestly, it could be your neighbor!
Strength & Splendor
This doesn’t mean she goes to the gym and pumps iron or stops at her local dermatologist to get botox (I have nothing against either… this also isn’t about me, haha). Instead, it means that no matter what life throws at her, she’s able to handle it because she is rooted in Christ.
And in motherhood, there are MANY challenging days and nights.
She lives in a way that no matter what lies in the future, she’s okay with it because she doesn’t rely on this world for comfort, guidance, or material things; she relies on God.
She is Happy, Kind, & Gives Words of Wisdom
She is happy and kind, and she gives words of wisdom.
This includes being kind to your husband and kids. Not answering with sarcasm but with wisdom instead.
The book 8 Errors Parents Make and How to Avoid Them states, “You should never shout at your child (probably the number one sin of mothers). You can get the book HERE. I HIGHLY recommend!!
Talk about an eye-opener.
We moms often get caught up raising our voices at the little ones because they didn’t listen the first 27 times. But what could you do to help your little one listen? Do they need direction or guidance? Maybe they don’t even know what you’re asking them to do. Could you show them?
Overall, speak using kind words and a kind tone.
Watches Over The Activity of Her Household
Watching over the activity of the household requires intentionality.
Does your husband need new work clothes? Or underwear? Do your little ones have enough clothes for the season ahead?
Are you guiding your little ones to Christ? Does one of your babies need more one-on-one time?
Is the home tidy? Is there anything that must be fixed before it becomes a huge problem?
I could go on and on about the importance of watching over the household’s activities, but it’s too much!
In a way, she isn’t careless about what is going on in her household. She manages her home diligently.
Productive Day
Her hands don’t idle.
You’re a mom. Your hands rarely idle.
Being productive, though, is very different from being busy. You could be busy all day and not get a single thing done, or you could be productive and get many things done.
Being productive also doesn’t mean finishing a long list of things. Instead, it means finishing four or five things from start to finish.
For example, being productive involves cleaning the living room, which includes dusting, vacuuming, and tidying. In an ideal world, this would take 15 minutes max, haha.
Being busy means starting the kitchen, living room, cleaning the bedroom, playing with the kids, going back to the kitchen—you get the gist. You’re never completely finishing one thing; you’re jumping from one thing to the next.
Being busy is draining, and you always have this feeling of NEVER getting anything done.
Fears the LORD
The MOST IMPORTANT OF THEM ALL is a Woman who Fears the LORD (Jehovah).
Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
Proverbs 1:7 ” The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
One of the best ways to start fearing Jehovah is by reading His Word! Here is a blog post all about how to start reading the Bible and the best study resources!
How else will you gain wisdom or hate what HE hates if you don’t read his word?
Food For Thought
It is a woman who is called the virtuous and capable wife.
More often than not, when you read this chapter, you’re going, hmmm, well, I definitely don’t wake up while it’s still dark… mmmm, I’m not buying land… and I don’t have servants.
“I am NO Proverbs 31 woman, not even close,” you murmur.
But here’s where the majority of mamas get it wrong.
The Proverbs 31 woman did not do everything all at once.
She did not just give birth and then set out to buy land the next day. No, no, no…
Proverbs 31:28 says, “Her children called her blessed.” Have you ever heard a newborn talk? I didn’t think so.
Her children were older.
This means there are seasons in life that make doing certain things possible.
Plan a Productive Day Using the Proverbs 31 Model
Planning a productive day using the Proverbs 31 model is a great way to start structuring your days. It requires intentionality, guidance from the Holy Spirit, and discipline.
The Proverbs 31 woman is worth far more than rubies. She is more valuable than anything else.
To become THAT woman, you must view hard work not as a burden, but as a nourishment for your soul and a blessing for those around you. It is the path to personal growth and spiritual fulfillment.
