Carving out quiet time with God as a busy Christian Mama seems almost impossible.
With countless sleepless nights, little ones needing you all day, and going from one thing to the next without getting a break, there doesn’t seem to be a time to spend quiet time with God.
I get it, mama! I was there once, too. Living in the chaos of having a barely 14-month-old when we brought our newborn home. Suddenly, it seemed like there was no time in the world I could squeeze in quiet time with God.
A day came, and a day went, and the area where I spent quiet time with God began to collect dust. It didn’t only affect the physical area where I spent time with Him but also my life.
The sky was falling, chicken little or so it seemed! But it wasn’t.
It was a combination of starting to rely on myself and mediocre motherhood ways that made it seem that way.
After a few weeks, or dare I say months, of not making the time to read The Word, I realized what was going on. I committed to never allowing life or blaming others, such as my baby girls, for not being responsible with my time and dedicating it to YAHWEH.
These Christian Mom tips on spending quiet time with God are THE BEST and APPROVED!!

What Is Quiet Time With God?
Quiet time with YAHWEH is a time when you are fully focused and intentionally spending time with Him. That could look like reading the Bible, Watching a sermon, Bible Journaling, prayer time, prayer journaling, or reading a devotional.
In those moments of undistracted focus, you create space to hear His voice and deepen your relationship with Him.
Importance of Quiet Time With God?
Spending time with God is not just important, it’s a shield against the attacks of satan, who is always seeking ways to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He targets Christian Families, especially during vulnerable seasons such as being freshly postpartum, bringing a tiny one home, mommas who are going through sleep deprivation, stay at home moms, working moms, etc.
He tries to steal your joy by filling your head with thoughts that you are not enough, that you have made a huge mistake becoming a mom, and that your life is going to suck now because no one is sleeping, making you focus on your past as the “freedom” you used to have, etc.
Once he steals your joy, he tries to destroy your family and your relationship with God.
But God says…
- Children are a blessing. (Psalm 127: 3-5)
- You are enough. (2 Corinthians 3:5)
- You and your children are wonderfully made. (Psalm 139: 13-14)
- You are set free because Christ paid the price for you. (John 8:36 & 1 Corinthians 6:20)
- God will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28-29)
Spending Time With God Bible Verses

” Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray,” – Mark 1:35 NLT
“Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” – Psalms 5:3 NLT
” I rise early before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words.” – Psalm 119:147 NLT
” Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile…” – Mark 6:31 NLT
“Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.” – Psalm 25:4 NLT

How To Spend Quiet Time With God?
#1 Start with Prayer
If you find yourself being inconsistent with reading The Word, pray. Prayer and the Holy Spirit will guide you in your journey with building a relationship with Yahweh.
Here are a few scriptures you can pray to God to help you build your quiet time with God…
Jeremiah 29:13 – “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
Ask God to align your heart’s desires so that you seek Him wholeheartedly, not half-heartedly.
Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Pray for wisdom to set aside lesser things and fix your priorities on Christ each morning.
Psalm 5:3 – “O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.”
Ask God to give you a desire (and the discipline) to rise early and offer your first moments to Him.
#2 Designate an Area
One of the best ways to prevent your relationship with God from slipping or your Bible from collecting dust is to have a designated area. An area where your Bible, journal, pens, and everything you need for quiet time is already laid out.
Let it be an area where you can entirely focus on this precious time with Him.

#3 A Bible You Understand
There are many things you can do while spending quiet time with God. One of the BEST things to do while spending this time with God is reading your Bible.
Not just any Bible but a Bible that you understand!
If the King James Version confuses you more than it helps, then it’s probably not the way to go. Some parts can be tricky, and you might need a commentary to make sense of them. But overall, you should be able to grasp what The Word is saying.
The New Living Translation Study Bible is one of the best Bible Study versions, providing helpful commentary to aid in understanding the Bible.

#4 Set Your Distractions Away
Keep distractions at bay while you spend quiet time with God. It’s so easy to pick up your phone and do a quick search, but the next thing you know, it takes up all your quiet time.
Leave your phone behind; it will not give you what The Word will give you.
Have the TV off while you’re spending this time with Him. If your thoughts get the best of you, have a piece of paper nearby and write them down, then set them aside for the time being.
#5 It Doesn’t Have to Be an Hour Long
You’re a busy Christian Mama, and let me tell you, getting one solid hour with God can often be impossible. You may wake up an hour before your little ones, and 5 minutes later, you hear “mama” from down the hall.
It’s their sensor going off, lol.
Side note: don’t quit reading your Bible when you hear those little footsteps; instead, let them join you!
When you’re going through busy seasons where you can’t spend a chunk of time with God, ten or twenty minutes is more than enough. Memorizing, repeating scripture, and just praying to God is great!
It’s better to truly understand scripture, even if it’s only by reading a few verses, rather than reading the Bible for an entire hour and not grasping what you’ve read.

#6 Make it Enjoyable
Spending time with God doesn’t have to feel like a drag. Make it enjoyable. Have your favorite drink with your favorite snack!
My favorite thing to do while spending quiet time with God is having a cup of black coffee with a Nature’s Bakery Bar. OH MY, it is the BEST COMBO!!
It makes me enjoy that moment so much. It’s like having a coffee date with Yahweh. I mean, what else could you ask for!?
#7 Make it a Habit
Quiet time with God does not come naturally to some. It requires planning, time, and dedication.
If you struggle to build solid habits, the book “Atomic Habits” by James Clear is a must-read.
In order to make “Quiet Time with God” a habit, set up a system that makes it easy to do it.
For example my current system to spending time with God looks like…
- Wake up before the kids anywhere from 5-6am
- Start the coffee maker or boil water
- Prayer
- Coffee
- Quite time with Yahweh
It’s a simple routine or system, but it works. When you overcomplicate your system and follow the “influencer routine,” you are less likely to stick with it.
Creating the system will help you make great habits.
#8 Be Flexible
Spending quiet time with God can seem unattainable, especially when you’re running on 5 hours of broken sleep with an endless to-do list.
Waking up early might be off the books, but how about when the kids are playing? Could you sit in their play area and read while they play? There will be a lot of interruptions, but it’s better than nothing.
Don’t be too rigid on a schedule or think you can’t squeeze it in throughout the day because it won’t be as “ideal.”
Quiet Time with Yahweh
Quiet time with God is so essential. It’s your Ultimate Guide to how you live, why you were created, your relationship with God explained, and the best parenting methods, I mean, The Bible has it all!
You can only reap the benefits of it if you sincerely and intentionally dedicate time to Yahweh.
