As Christian moms, our days are full of love, purpose, and sometimes, exhaustion. In the midst of motherhood’s joys and challenges, filling our hearts and minds with truth is vital. That’s why I’ve gathered these life-changing Christian books; each one has deeply shaped my walk with Christ and my journey as a mother. I pray they encourage you, too.
Finding truly life-changing Christian books isn’t always easy, especially those that help us reflect on who we are in Christ and draw us closer to Him in our daily lives as women and mothers.
This year, I set a goal to read 50 books while raising children just 13 months apart (my almost-Irish twins!). As of March 12, 2026, these are a few of the books that have most deeply influenced my walk with God, my motherhood, and my relationships. These stories and teachings have helped me see God not just as a friend, but as our holy and loving Father who deserves awe, reverence, and trust.
Each is convicting, encouraging, insightful, and rooted in God’s Word.
Of course, no book can ever replace the Bible. But I hope these recommendations encourage you to grow in faith and draw closer to Jesus.
Christian Books for Moms

Pilgrim’s Progress By John Bunyan
Pilgrim’s Progress is one of the best-known Christian books in the world, first published in 1678.
Often called the greatest book after the Bible, it follows a believer’s journey to the Celestial City. The rich use of Scripture woven throughout makes it surprisingly relevant for today’s Christian women.
Learning about John Bunyan’s hardships—his imprisonment for preaching, his family’s struggles—adds powerful depth to this classic. His faith through suffering is a reminder to all mothers who trust God in hard seasons.
John Bunyan endured 12 years in prison for sharing the gospel, lost his first wife, and had a stillborn baby while incarcerated.

Living Life Backward by David Gibson
David Gibson unpacks Ecclesiastes, urging us to live each day in light of death. He helps us see how remembering life’s brevity shapes our purpose and joy.
As moms, it’s easy to push thoughts of suffering or loss aside. But this book gently reminds us that life is fragile, and encourages us to find true meaning in God—not in worldly success or comfort.
We can so easily chase after what others have—careers, homes, or even the “perfect” family—seeking validation or status. This book invites us to build a life centered on what truly matters.
Living Life Backward explores Solomon’s message that worldly pursuits are fleeting, and offers practical wisdom for enjoying God’s gifts and making the most of our days as women of faith.
If you’re struggling with control, the thought of death, or your calling as a Christian mom, this book will help you tremendously!

Prayer & Spiritual Warfare by Charles Spurgeon
Prayer and Spiritual Warfare by Charles Spurgeon teaches us how to approach God’s throne with boldness—laying everything before Him, knowing He already sees our hearts.
Spurgeon reminds us that while we might try to appear faithful, God knows our hearts—our worries, doubts, and needs. We can come to Him honestly, without pretense.
This book encourages us to pray without fear or holding back—to speak to God as our loving Father, not as a distant stranger.
It also explores why prayer is so powerful and how spiritual opposition tries to keep us from this source of strength.
Consider the Lilies by Johnny Ardavanis
Johnny Ardavanis, a pastor and teacher, wrote Consider the Lilies to guide us toward real peace in a world full of anxiety and worry.
Unlike many self-help books, this one doesn’t offer worldly solutions. Instead, it gently points us back to God’s character—especially in moments of struggle, doubt, or when God feels silent.
When we focus on our problems, solutions feel out of reach. But when we focus on who God is—caring, sovereign, almighty—we find strength to face anything. Knowing His attributes truly changes how we live as mothers and women of faith.
If you feel like anxiety gets the best of you day and night, then this book is for you! Whether you’re anxious about the future or a family issue, Consider the Lilies will help you redirect your anxiety!

The Screwtape Letters By C.S. Lewis
The Screwtape Letters is a creative and insightful book told through letters from a senior devil to a junior devil, teaching him how to keep people from following God.
Through humor and wisdom, C.S. Lewis reveals the subtle ways the enemy tries to distract us from faith and God’s truth.
It’s both funny and eye-opening, reminding us how easily we can be distracted from God’s love by everyday worries and temptations.
