A solid morning routine will transform your life for the better, especially a Christian Mom Morning Routine!
After having my two daughters who are barely 14 months apart, a morning routine seemed almost impossible. My girlies have been horrible sleepers, at least for their first year of life. Which means I didn’t get any sleep either. Waking up before them was not an option.
We have finally reached a season when I have been able to build a faith-filled morning routine, and now I encourage many mommas to do the same. A solid Christian morning routine will significantly change your life.
Mornings are vital. They seem to set the tone for the day. That is why having a plan with God at its heart is a GAME CHANGER.
If you’re a Christian mom who wants a simple, faith-filled morning routine that actually works even with babies or toddlers, this guide will walk you through exactly how to create one.
Simple Christian Mom Morning Routine

Pray Over Your Day, Children, Self, Marriage, Everything
Psalms 5:3 “In the morning, LORD (Yahweh), you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”
Prayer should be your priority when you’re building your morning routine.
God’s Word states that “Satan prowls around like a roaring lion seeking to devour someone…” 1 Peter 5:8, but He also states to “by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6
Hand over your day to the LORD, let him know what you need. He wants to hear your prayers. It’s just like how you want your children to trust you and tell you things, so does YOUR Creator.
Sample Morning Prayer For Christian Moms: “Yahweh, I ask your Holy Spirit for self-control, patience & joy in motherhood. Give me the ability to nurture, be loving and present, even when I am firm. Give me the abilities that I currently do not have. Remind me not to discipline harshly in anger, but to rely on you in everything. I pray all this in Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.“
Make The Effort to Get Up Before Your Kids
Depending on the season of life you are in, make the effort to get up before your children, if possible.
- Gives you time to pray silently before the chaos.
- Gives you the opportunity to read your Bible
- Gives you a little breather
- A time to get your thoughts together and a little bit of time to plan for the day.
God’s Word says that the Proverbs 31:15 Woman “gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.“

Read God’s Word Every Morning
God’s Word + Prayer should be your anchor every single morning.
Read God’s Word every morning, whether that is before your kids wake up or during breakfast. Let God’s Word soak into your spirit and guide you throughout your day. Meditate on it day and night.
Even if you do not feel like reading your Bible, read it.
If you have never read your Bible before, here is a simple blog post on how to start reading your bible every day. The small books of the New Testament are among the most encouraging, loving, and faith-filled books of the Bible, such as 1 John, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, James, Ephesians, and Galatians.
Incorporate a bit of a Bible-based morning routine; it’s life-giving.
Slow Your Morning Down
God did not create you or your children to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
A few ways to help you slow your mornings down, especially if you have young school-aged kids or toddlers…
- Make breakfast casseroles, overnight oats, yogurt parfaits, etc.
- Get your clothes and your kids’ clothes ready the night before.
- Prepare and schedule your coffee pot for the morning.
- Learn to say no to early morning playdates, outings, get-togethers, etc.
Slow mornings bring peace into your home. Running around stressed and angry to get out of the door for an unnecessary outing is useless. It hinders your relationship with your kids and brings unnecessary stress to your home.
Listen to Worship Music
Fill your mornings with Worship music, whether that’s hymnals, calm worship, or upbeat worship. There is something in store for everyone.
A few of my favorite artists are CeCe Williams, Charity Gayle, Josh Baldwin, and Phil Wickham.
Here is my Worship Jesus Spotify playlist. It is a work in progress since I just started using Spotify again, but we’ll keep adding music to it!
The BEST Way to Build a Christ-Centered Morning Routine
Preparing a Christian Morning Routine
It all starts with asking yourself, “What do you want your mornings to look like?” and “How can you make it happen?“
If you want to start waking up before your children, what can you set up to motivate you to get up earlier? Could it be a hot cup of coffee waiting for you? Maybe it’s a sermon or a Christian-based video that you would like to see.
If you want to start reading your Bible every morning, do you have a current Bible that you understand? Where are you going to read it, and what book of the Bible are you reading?
(The NLT Illustrated Study Bible has been the BEST I’ve found so far!!)
These are basic questions to ask yourself and plan for, but they will transform your Christian mom morning routine and motivate you to get up in the mornings.
Prepare The Night Before
To have a solid morning routine, you need a solid night routine. Once you have an idea of what you would like your Christ-centered morning routine to look like, start preparing the night before.
Set up the coffee pot and schedule it to brew at your desired wake-up time.
Set your Bible up in an area where it’s easy to access, along with all your pens, highlighters, notebooks, etc.
Have your clothes picked out so it’s easier to get ready in the mornings.
Anything that will ease and slow your mornings down, do the night before.
Allow Some Flexibility to Your Morning Routine
Base everything in your life on the season that you are currently in and allow some flexibility to your morning routine.
For example, if you just had a newborn or little ones who wake up at night, it might not be best to have the earliest morning routine. If waking up earlier is going to make you grumpier throughout the day, scratch it and wait for the season when it may be possible.
Your children are also growing, so their needs differ. Allow flexibility for that. If you don’t, you will soon start to feel frustrated about something you’re trying to keep the same, but needs to be changed.
Don’t Plan Your Morning Routine Like Others
Plan a morning routine that works for you and your family. Do not force someone else’s “perfect morning routine” into your own life.
For one, adopting someone else’s morning routine may hinder your own, since you don’t live the same life (even if it seems like you do).
Secondly, you may not even want to do what the other person is dedicating their morning to.
It’s fine to take inspiration from someone else, but we were never created to copy and paste someone else’s life into ours.
My Simple Morning Routine Rooted in Christ
For some simple context in this season of life, in Nov 2025, I have two daughters who are 2.5 years (29 months) and 15 months old. I am a solo parent for the majority of the year (farm life). They wake up once or twice overnight 90% of the week.
5:00 am – Brew coffee (set the night before, here’s the one that I use. LOVE IT.)
5:15 am- 5:30 – Wake up, get coffee
5:30 am – Read my Bible until my little heart desires
6:15 am – get some work done (blog, YouTube, Canva) and work until the girls wake up around 7 – 8 am.
I would like to squeeze in a workout, but in this season of life, I just do it while my girls are awake. They like to join me, so it’s SO FUN!!

A Morning Routine Rooted in Christ
A Christian mom morning routine doesn’t need to be complicated, aesthetic, or perfect. It just needs to point your heart toward Jesus.
When you give God the first moments of your day, no matter how short, quiet, loud, or messy, they become sacred. Over time, you will notice a real change in your patience, your peace, your mindset, and the way you show up for your children. Not because of your strength, but because you’re leaning into His.
Start small. Stay consistent. And build a Christ-centered morning routine that actually fits your life and your current season of motherhood.

FAQs: Christian Morning Routine
- How can I start my day with God when I am exhausted or busy?
- Start small. Pray before you get out of bed, listen to worship while you get ready, or read one short chapter during breakfast. The goal here isn’t perfection; it’s setting the habit and intention.
- How do I create a morning routine with young kids or a baby?
- Be flexible. Not every morning routine needs to start at 5 am, nor will it be possible in certain seasons of life. You could incorporate bible reading at breakfast, worship music while you’re cleaning, praying throughout the day, etc.
- How long should a Christian Morning Routine be?
- You will hear different opinions on this one, but truly, all that matters is your heart posture towards God, not the length of time.
- What if I can’t wake up before the kids?
- If you can’t wake up before your kids, then include them. Don’t put things like building your faith and your relationship with God to the side; instead, lead by example what it looks like to have not only a Christ-centered morning Routine but also a Christ-centered life, no matter the season of life you are in.
